ok first of all im not dissin mike or anything but on the interview with him he stated...
Where did the name FORT MINOR come from?

“Fort” represents the more aggressive side of the music. “Minor” can mean a few things: if you're talking about music theory, minor key is darker. I wanted to name the album rather than having my name on the cover, because I want people to focus on the music, not me.

ok so here are some lyrics...

It seems like he is rapping about not wanting to be known for his name, but for his music, although he puts his name in teh songs...just somthing i noticed..any other thought?

I dunno if this relates to what you're saying. But if you bought the special edition.. on the DVD he said: "but, at the end of the day, The Rising Tied is my album."

So it is his album, but he wanted to share it with his friends or something (that's what he said on the DVD)

^yeah how about we skip this discussion, it's really annoying when people start prejudging a form of music. ok, so you might not like rap, you could've said it in a polite way, that's all I'm gonna say.


and I don't know, of course Mike wants for his music to be heard, rather than his name, that's one of the reasons for the stage name.
now in Petrified, most of the time he's being sarcastic, don't take it seriously if he mentions his name.
but well, truth is, when one raps, one is often inclined to mention one's name, dunno why. I try to skip it, but that idea somehow pops in my mind a lot...

I think I dó listen it just because it's mike(He's not my favorite but I wanna support everyone in lp), but I don't say I'm a fan of fort minor..

I don't usually listen to most rap eather..
but I like the songs they have for now (Okay don't know if you understood what I just said :/)

Well, he doesn`t put his name in songs to make it KNOWN that it was him that was rapping... Like in "Remember the Name" it just introduces the group members. They used a specific style/format; Before verses, the artist that was spitting lyrics would say their name or someone else would say their name. "..Tak`s pickin it up!" Everyone rapped in third person in that song, and I don`t know why Mike shouldnt either.

And for the first example from Petrified... its just an intro

most of his lyrics r saying forget mike or he doent need the fam, the how ya doing my name is mike thing is just telling him that hes rapping thats all, just get ur stroy stright and probbly listin to his "WHOLE" (or the whole song) album before u diss fort minor

I like MIke & his lyrics-they sound so...ehm...simple.It`s like he`s sayin` the same things we`ve heard before but in a different way or at least that`s how I feel about them.I love his style,his way of sayin the things he says.I think that he needed to make The rising tied,he needed the freedom to make a record all by himself without anyone tellin him what to da & how to do it.I like that he doesn`t put boudaries & he`s always tryin sth new,sth fresh.I really think that`s cool.He knows what he wants and that`s very important....
