Petrified:
I am not Mike, as you may already know, nor do I know the real depth and meaning behind some of these songs. However, in the case of Mr Shinoda's "Petrified", I believe the entire song is satirical, right down to the music video.
If you watch the way Mike puts lines like "puffed up looking tough but so phony" next to Ryu dressed in the largest hoody he could find and trying to act like a thug, you might see the first deliberate ironies of Mike's approach. The video itself features Mike with a (flare) gun, a car spinning in the dirt, thug approach and Mike's "Machine Shop" chains (bling, as it were).
Remember that this CD is Mike having fun, whilst giving exposure to some names he has signed to him, and others he would like to gain such exposure. I believe that Petrified is Mike just proving he could make the "club/thug" songs that the media is plagued with. If you look at most club songs, they're VERY basic with metaphors, vocabulary, language and as basic as they can be. In fact, they care most about the beat in the background.
I feel this is why Petrified is the least popular song at this time, because everybody completely misses what I've just stated.
If the song is taken on seriously, admittedly it can appear to be really poorly constructed lyrically, when in fact, Mike made a completely catchy song with easy to learn lyricism and a tight beat for people to move to.

Hope that might clear something up.

Thanks yall!
Trying to get full Believe Me video ripped. It's on Fuse and Kerrang so someone get it.

Sorry, I just didn't want to curse in English here...

Damn, Petrified, the ironic, yet very cool and catchy song will be the US single, and what do we Europeans and Asians get? The some places cool some places cheesy Believe Me.
I would have wanted Petrified to be the Euro/Asian single, or at least Remember the Name god damn it

I don't like Believe Me at all. The video is on the playlist on Kerrang here (UK), but I've not seen it yet. On the new vids thing they say somethng like: "This is Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park's hip-hop solo project, the catchy, Believe Me" They say some other stuff but I can't remember what

Whoa thanks Mark xD! I just downloaded the video because my computer is too slow to stream it smoothly lol >.> It's a lot cooler than Petrified in my opinion:D Very awesome video, it's like an underground car park place isn't it lol? I love the green lights and the camera movements ^.^ I found the bit where they were kinda floating in the air twitching or whatever really funny haha. Great video :) Whoa, notice that when it got to the singing chorus, no-one was actually singing it or lip syncing it or whatever:)

It's a weird weird that they're releasing different singles in different places. I guess "Believe Me" is gonna be for the Uk then xD! I'm definatly gonna buy it. Though I really wanted Remember The Name!

Yeah thats cool. They couldnt do the chorus cause Mike woulda looked like a girl singing it LOL. In the studio, they overlooped him saying the chorus like 3/4 times so thats the end result.

The music video is done well (Believe Me) untill the chorus kick in, they coulda made it go with the chorus a lil better.
