The New LPF Rating system

Hi All,

I implemented a new rating system so you can rate your fellow LPF'ers. I would like this to be a community decision, so I'm making a poll for it in this thread. Let me know how you like it.

The rating system is guaged based on Posts, Length of membership, and quality of posts (you rate people based on their posts). Vote for it here, does it stay or go!

I personally would like to see it go. I can only see it bringing about favouritism, and that's never a good thing :) But that's just my opinion.

well lol....if this is supposed to be fair some great members like woody , misery n others dont have green things yet people have already got some sort of rating to their name.
it just makes no sense to me...

Yeah, the highest quantity poster(ss1) doesnt even have it. Wait a sec, does green or blue mean good, because blue would make alot more sense to me.

I agree 100%.. people who like other people will only rate their posts.. So if they don't know them they won't get rated and what not...

I guess it's a more interactive feature for the forums, but I don't think it'll quite work on here.
I mean just look at the thread in the site section =P People are already making disputes about who's green and blue and you haven't even fully implemented the changes yet! I think some members will just rate others because they're friends or whatever, and it doesn't seem quite so fair for newbies or other members who haven't been here as long. It's a nice idea to help recognise quality posts / posters (?), but yeah, it will probably exploit favouritism ;)

Cuz Im an elite member, and Vero is a mod and we both still have a blue dot... therefore, ther system is screwed up and at the moment whether you have a green or blue dot... it means absolutely NOTHING. ;)

Very confusing, I wish LPFAdmin really would clear this blue / green bar thingy so that it'll set peoples minds at rest lol. I'm not bothered by it at the moment, it makes no sense.

I am not gonna say I like it, or dislike it right now, I do think it has the potential to be an good idea, but, I think it's too complicated for us to learn or understand XD. I think everyone's just used to the old way, & maybe even scared, I really don't think that 'scared' would be that right word, but I think it does say what everyone is saying. So, Jon, Keep it, or trash it, it is ultimatly your descion. Although, if you do decide to keep it, I suggest explaining it better, & in words that us losers can understand.

Nope... Id have to disagree...MSG posted this in Site Talk when question about this new system came up in there... It seems to be pretty accurate...

WHAT IS REPUTATION?
A ranking system to rate the posts of other members.

WHAT DOES IT DO?
Nothing. Just something flashy to look at and gloat over.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO GIVE REPUTATION??
Both of the following:
A minimum post count of 50.
A minimum reputation of 10 points.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE REPUTATION??
A minimum of 1 post.


HOW DO I GIVE REPUTATION?
Next to each member's post, you can find a little scale icon. Click on that and a new window will open up. Here you can decide to approve their post (positive/green), or disapprove their post (negative/red), as well as leave a comment and your username for them to read. Then click Add to Reputation to complete the process.

HOW DO I SEE WHAT MY REPUTATION IS?
There are three ways:
The amount light bars next to your posts (see below for details).
The message you see displayed when you place your mouse over the light bars (see below for details).
Clicking UserCP, scrolling down to the Latest Reputation Received box, and looking at the top right corner. A number is given signifying how many points you've earned.

WHAT ARE THESE DIFFERENT BARS MEAN??
Each bar signifies that that member has reached a certain "checkpoint" in rep points. NOTE: Rep bars don't signify rep power (see below for details.)

-249 to -150: User should be left alone; it bites
-149 to -50: User sucks
-49 to -10: User has a little shameless behavior in the past
-9 to 9: User is an unknown quantity at this point
10 to 49: User is on a distinguished road
50 to 149: User will become famous soon enough
150 to 249: User has a spectacular aura about
250 to 349: User is a jewel in the rough
350 to 449: User is just really nice
450 to 549: User is a glorious beacon of light

By clicking UserCP, and scrolling down to the Latest Reputation Received box. There you can see which thread as well as a link to the post you got you're reputation from, the time you received it, the type of reputation or color (see below for details), and a comment if one was left there. You can only view the last 10 reps you were given.

Unless you're an admin, or super-moderator, or one of the above checks your profile for you, there is no way you can be 100% sure who gave them to you. The only other way to know is if they tell you that they are/have, or by what they say in their comments

Well, thats obviosuly wrong, because it says you need atleast 1 post to recieve rep, but take a look, even the people with 0 posts have green.
