The fact they have basically already announced an album for 2006, and the fact that mike has done solo projects serperatly from the band already im not too worried.

The solo career could do good for Linkin Park and bring a whole new audience to the genre and you never know, you might see the rest of Linkin Park featuring on Mike Shinodas album.
And amongst other things, Linkin Park now have a record label (sub label) and also have done recent things such as starting Music For Relif and will be apperaring on a Benefit Concert for it with Jay Z amomngst other artists. This dosent sound like a group that is splitting up, I think Mike has planned to do a solo album for a long time now and there is nothing to worry about, it can fill up the 2005 void till 2006 when the new album is rumoured to be released.

I dont want to bring it up though but Destiney Child reformed(not to my happiness of course) despite Beyonce being such a hit.

i dunno whether i should laugh or cry. first of all, is he in fact making a solo album? if he is, let him work his magic, bands have worked although one member has done a solo or side project. bands like depeche mode, destiny's child, g-unit, blur, oasis, d-12, lp, korn, limp bizkit and QOTSA are still working despite of various solo projects and other stuff.
lp have announced a new album, they're all good friends, why the fuck should they break up? they know for a fact that they have a huge number of fans, even a huge number of official fans who love them and support them and want more stuff from them. they might be a little tired of each other, that's why they've been working with other artists. they'll come back even stronger.
and give them a break they're all adults, it's not up to us to decide what they'll do.

Mike's a good emcee and I'm not a rapper hater, I like good rap a lot. So, I don't have a problem with Mike making a solo album. I'm sure it'd be good and I'd buy it. What I'm worried about is if this will influence a break up. There's just so many rumors coming out now a days, it's weird :\ It's perfectly understandable that the guys are a little tired and that they want to make their own things, but I don't know if they'll be able to do that and LP at the same time. Reading through all these posts have given me some thoughts..

Like some you said.. they might end up like Destiny's Child.. make a few albums and go big, one leave and make an album and go big, and then they come back even bigger than ever. Maybe thats what LP is trying to do, I would probably do the same.

Mike is an awesome rapper. I love all kinds of rap and I love Mike's the most cuz his actually means something. When you add Chester is awesome and when you add the rest of them, it just blows you away. I had a feeling once I became a fan of them, that one of them would do something that screwed up the band and they would be awesome and then they work things out and start something new. They probably just wanna surpise us with something big. Like with Reanimation.. when I heard Enth E End on the radio, it totally surpised me and I loved it. Then Meteora came out and once again it surpised me. LP loves surpising people and I just have a strong feeling thats what they are trying to do. They probably got together and convinced Mike to make a solo album so then they could surpise some fans and see how it sells. I have a feeling that the band will be with the album, just only Mike singing and maybe even have Chester play his guitar! Then when 2006 comes around, they would have came up with ideas for new songs while on the road and then their new album comes out and we are all surpised again!

Yes, they may be trying to superise us, but if this forum represents Linkin Park fans across the spectrum (which it does), the feeling seems to be more anxious and cautious then actual happiness. I really LP would say something about this or the next album...a statement of some sort, just to keep all us Linkin Park freaks from knawing our fingers to the bone in nervous anxiety.
But yeah, I agree with Faded Blue. It has been two years and I want Linkin Park.

It would be funny if they said that there was going to be a solo album and then it turned out to be the Linkin Park album that we have been waiting for. These guys have been friends for too too long why the hell would anyone think that they would break up. Besides have you noticed that its usually the rock bands that stay together longer. It seems to me that most R&B groups break up. Maybe because that what I mainly listen to or that's me and my mom opinion.

Mike has been in the rap gang for a long long time anyway so its no suprise to me in the frist place. I'll buy it and force my dad to listen to it.

i think despite how much anyone talks about this we'll still never know for sure. Like someone mentioned it could be a "Destiny's Child thing", after going solo, grouping back together. or they could do what Green Day did, after being real big and with a successful album come back big on another ten yrs later.. or they could turn out like older bands, be successful with a current group for a couple yrs, take it easy and do side projects with other artists and bands while still doing little things with their original band and every once in a while make a hit song.... i dont know, i think im just rambling though...
