Calling All LP Remixers

Hey, everybody, I got an idea. Well, it was actually Stenners's idea, but I thought of it too, and we just talked about it.

I think it would be really cool if we could get all the LP remixers together to make one big collaboration remix album. We would each pick one track to do by ourselves, on a first come/first serve basis, and anybody who wants to try out to be on the album could participate. What do you guys think?

hmm...well...i planned on it being where everyone would create a brand new remix from scratch...if you could try something you've never tried before, do that, but if you don't have anything else to use then just post what you have.

I am a remixer, someone assign me a song and I will do it. I think once we get a song, we make a couple versions, then we post it and everyone critics it and we keep fixign it untill its perfect. Sort of like what LP does when making a new abulm.

I said that at the top: first come, first serve. The idea I have is that you pick a song you haven't done before and try your hand at it.

You can pick your own track, SNiPeRViRuS. I probably won't pick a track myself until some more people pick. I want to make sure that there are people who are actually going to do this.

Alright, people. Sorry about the double post, but I want to make sure everybody gets notifications of this. Here's how we're gunna do this.

If you're interested in trying out for the album, post here with the name of the track you want to do. I will keep track of who wants to do what (it'll be in my sig). When you're finished with your track, put it on here so we can listen to it.

We will provide you with tips and suggestions to improve your remix. When a majority of us feel that the remix is good enough to be put on the album, your work is done. I will keep all final versions of the remixes and when the album is complete I will pass them all off to ChesterSings so the remixes can be hosted.

Any questions about this, drop a reply or a PM.

EDIT: Just so everyone is clear on this...you can only do ONE track. ONE. No exceptions.

it's coming to me in bits and pieces... i rewrote the guitar part, and used the guitars from Points of Authority and One Step Closer, modified them (speeding/slowing, basically) To come out with the rewritten place for my head heavier riff, you'll see why, think P5hng Me A*wy. Then, i used a midi program to create the Bass, converted it to MP3 when i thought it sounded alright enough, and then just... improvised.

Still looking for real sounding drums, the best I can come up with are midi, and I can't record my own (i'm a drummer, i can tell whats real and what's not) formatting the papercut beat didn't work, but that's not saying I didn't do that ;-)) nothing really seemed to work, so if anybody has just drum sounds, I'd love to use them. and believe you me, i can. ^_^

Also, what would be appreciated is a Place for my Head A capella. I know thats going to be impossible, but if anybody can just make an instrumental out of nowhere, they should be able to make a capella versions of this, right? Reasons are obvious, correct? And, when you listen to this preview, you should be able to see why I need them, because I'm planning on doing every verse, so I'd like to be able to use the same background sound for all of them. Also I can't do the second verse because I've modified the Guitars in the song, so if you look at it like that, I'm screwed.


Not to be concieted or anything, but I think that the reanimation version of Place for my Head is going to have nothing on this.... thoughts?

Anyway, the reason why this post is so much longer than what you'll see from me is because I'm waiting for this file to get uploaded onto yousendit.com, and I'm really bored. Please excuse me if reading this makes you want to listen to Linkin Park.

Another thing. Listen to this song as loud as you can, because it's just not going to sound good. If you have a car, with a nice sound system, crank it up in there. that's how loud you want this.

It sounds pretty good to me. Like you said, you're going to have a hell of a time getting an acapella for that song, because as far as I know no official instrumental exists for Place For My Head. This sounds like it'll be a kick-ass remix. Keep it up; we're all waiting to hear more.

can any1 tell me where i can find a GOOD tutorial on remixing in Acid Pro 4, Sony Sound Forge or Adobe Audition.....i prefer acid...but wateva i dont care.....

There really is no "tutorial", per se, for remixing. It's one of those skills that's acquired through practice. I learned ACID basically by screwing around with it and seeing what it could do. The best thing to do is to look through the help files for ACID and see what everything does. The skill comes not with the capabilities of your program, but the capabilities of your imagination.

Hi all, i'm sure you already know me. As LPF's first remixer, that I am, ( remember the "Crawlin Raged 1.0 and 2.0" I proudly released on December I think), I have to say this idea is really good, I'm not joining the "remixer team" though. I'm a busy person and i cannot adapt to other people's dates, so I'll keep workin on my own.

And as an Advice, try not to remix all same songs, i mean I have remixed quite a lot of LP songs, such as Crawlin (in two different versions), Points of Authority (also two different remix versions), with you, high voltage, numb, among others incluiding my last remix "Dont Stay 1.0".

Maybe I can add some of my remixes to your work in a near future, but I cannot promise anythin due to routine problems.

Theres one part is the intro where it kinda sounds like its about it cut into that faint/toxic mix and then cuts to the normal version [EDIT: 22 seconds in]... some HUGE volume problems were it goes from kinda quiet to really loud... [EDIT 37 seconds in]

I liked how you reversed the intro and then blended it into the normal into [At least i think thats what you did...]

...but just fix those couple things and I think it sounds really good :thumbsup:

True...it does need a lot of work. But there's some pretty cool ideas in there. Watch the volume levels, too; it clips a lot.

Yeah, it kinda does kill the surprise. If all the final versions are put on the forums, there's no real "release" of the album.

I think people should of course keep it secret, I believe I was the first one on here to kinda say that ppl shouldent post their mixes yet cuz it will kill the suprise when "it" comes out...

There should be a rule that If you release you mix before the time comes to release the whole thing... it gets cut from the "album"

Also, I think people who are doing mixes, [me being one of them]... should make a sampler of thier mix ABOUT 20-30 seconds long so that their is some sort of a teaser to get ppl interested... :thumbsup:

As far as your sample goes, all I can say that needs to be fixed is the transition into Jay-Z's part. He comes in too early. Other than that it sounds pretty sweet to me.

If all the final versions are sporadically released on this thread, there's no true "release" of the album. Plus, everybody will get confused as to which links are final versions and which links are not. And YouSentIt.com links only work for 7 days or I believe 25 downloads, whichever comes first.

As far as copyright infringement is concerned, as long as nobody makes money off of it, and we credit LP for all the original songs, Warner Bros. won't care. They're just making sure nobody makes money off of their music.

As for the title, it probably should have LPF in it, as the idea IS on LPF.

EDIT: And I believe ChesterSings offered webspace for this album for us.

I dunno...naming this shit is hard to do. Phenomina would be good if it could be tied to LP somehow. I still like Allied's idea of putting LPF in the name; I think that belongs there.

If you're asking if you can do a By Myself/PPR:KUT mash-up, the answer is yes. If that's what you plan on doing, make sure you post it here so I can make the change.

Broadband is a type of connection speed. Its really fast for most. My broadband is as fast as T1 because of some weird connection line problem and a couple of enhancers.
