In all of their original music (excluding reanimation) LP doesnt ever directly refer to a woman or girl or persons sex. It can be for anyone about anyone.
I honestly believe thats what makes their music so universal, what do you think?

Wow, that honestly never crossed my mind.
That's another reason to love them XDD I don't know, its just refreshing.... to know that they think outside the box... and are creative.

I bet I can find an LP song that refers to a woman lol...how about dont stay or with you?

Never any direct reference, Mark.
Those might be about people of the other sex, but we really don't know, and I don't think we can.
But, especially with Aceyalone's lyrical interpretation on the Reanimation version, I like to think of With you being about love, for instance.

LP has said they totally changed up the songs on Reanimation, giving them new meanings and such, etc. They've got to be about females lmao.
well I take back with you, I see what you're saying, but some other songs are like wtf.
"Somehow I need you to go, dont stay........what you are changing me into, just give me myself back and dont stay" "forget our memories, forget our possibilities"
"I dont need you anymore, dont want to be ignored...." thats gotta be about a girl lol. who do you think hes talking about, mark wakefield for gods sake? LMAO
numb: "put under the pressure of walking in your shoes" "every step that I take is another mistake to you" "ive become so numb, I cant feel you there...become so tired, so much more aware. im becoming this, all I want to do is be more like me and be less like you." "Cant you see that youre smothering me?"
who the hell is he talking about here? Mark Fiore? ^_^ Brad? O_O

sourcing erase the pain's song meanings chart:
04. Lying From You
Finding a way out of a relationship but you don't know how so you just pretend that everything is how you want it to be.
05. Hit The Floor
Feeling like everytime you turn around, this person is always breaking your trust and saying things that they shouldn't. They always pretend that they are someone they aren't when your around, but when your not they are someone else.
07. Faint
Feeling like you know that you can get this through, but they don't want to take the time to hear you out.
I'd comment on Numb and F.09 but those could be boys too I guess....
08. In The End
You tried so hard in a relationship but at the end of it all it doesnt even matter. It doesnt matter how hard you tried to make things work it still would have turned out the same.
12. Pushing Me Away
You've tried to be where you are, but you wish you would have just walked away instead of putting yourself in this situation just to stay with someone.
04. And One
Feeling like that they've never bothered to make the relationship work out with you.

I agree wtih you Hanhinator. Some of those songs do refer to women, or rleationships. I do agree with Lyson in that not all of there songs are about women. This probably does add to their universal appeal. Really I think there songs are taking there anger and putting it into words. They don't really need a deeper meaning, its just expressing how you feel. I like it when bands do this, but then again, some are good even if all there songs deal with women.

yeah I know all of them arent about women and such but some of them definetely are.

No that's the beautiful thing about Linkin Park. They can be if you want them to be about women, but they don't have to be either.
Don't stay has never meant anything to do with women to me.
Neither have any of the other songs you mentioned, Mark.

I never said that they it isnt about woman, I said that there is no direct reference. Listen to it, there's no words that says "Im singing about a woman", even though they probably are, but its like if someone in a same sex relationaship listened to it, it would carry the same effect it does for boy/girl relationships!
I mean Duh, they gotta be singing about woman! Just in directly.

You're just twisting my words. I was talking about direct reference. It never says like, a female name, or something like "after we kissed...blablabla"
Something like that. Which means as Ref said, they could be about females, could be about anything.
I did NOT say the could not be about females. gee...
And you took the example of Numb, I find that personally more to be like about a father/son relationship, that's the gist of it, to me. But, having said what I did before, it could be about a sexual relationship with a female or whatever.
What I'm saying is, I don't rule anything out.

Yeah, I agree with that, I see it as a parent/child relationship in Numb.
numb: "put under the pressure of walking in your shoes" "every step that I take is another mistake to you" "ive become so numb, I cant feel you there...become so tired, so much more aware. im becoming this, all I want to do is be more like me and be less like you." "Cant you see that youre smothering me?"
It could just be personal experience adding to it (which I think it is with a lot of LP lyrics) but this is just like my relationship with my parents, never doing the right thing in their eyes, they want you to do what they think you should do, not what you want to do...
I don't know if it's deliberate, but I think there are a lot of ways you can take LP lyrics, it depends on your own life experience, and I really like that - you can make up your own mind about what a song means, not have it handed to you on a plate.

I agree there are some songs you can tell they are talking about girls.

They are saying what they think, so calm down. You have different viewpoints, thats fine, but don't act like everyone else is wrong.
I personally think its kind of a trivial topic, because everyone interprets a song differently. So I think everyone's viewpoint is perfectly valid.

I think they haven't made this much of negative experiences with women. That's why they don't make music about it.

04. Lying From You
Finding a way out of a relationship but you don't know how so you just pretend that everything is how you want it to be.or not. "I remember what they taught to me, remember condescending talk of who I ought to be" Yeah, woman. Not so much.
05. Hit The Floor
Feeling like everytime you turn around, this person is always breaking your trust and saying things that they shouldn't. They always pretend that they are someone they aren't when your around, but when your not they are someone else.??? No. This song talks about the upper hand. That's not what this explanation is about. Go back and listen to the song with 100% ears, not selective hearing
07. Faint
Feeling like you know that you can get this through, but they don't want to take the time to hear you out. Okay, I've felt this way about a girl, but that was once, and I was completely suprised by it.
I'd comment on Numb and F.09 but those could be boys too I guess....
08. In The End
You tried so hard in a relationship but at the end of it all it doesnt even matter. It doesnt matter how hard you tried to make things work it still would have turned out the same. old. Define Relationship. Even the explanation doesn't talk about a girl.
12. Pushing Me Away
You've tried to be where you are, but you wish you would have just walked away instead of putting yourself in this situation just to stay with someone. this means the same thing as numb.
04. And One
Feeling like that they've never bothered to make the relationship work out with you.[b]if that's true then this song is about Arkansas Imbreeding. "...to my own FLESH AND BLOOD" that's family. Not your girlfriend.

the idea of their songs is that they are there to be interpreted by basically everyone. not just at ONE gender/religion etc. each of their songs can be interpretted in many ways, relationship, life, a bad patch etc.
thats wat make linkin park so great, their ability to draw upon expieriences and put together songs that almost everyone can enjoy, relate to etc.

Of course they'll continue writing in that way...
They might possibly take a turn towards more optimism in their lyrics (dunno though), but they'll still write about experiences and opinions that are universal and we all have in common

If the shoe fits wear it man.
Anyways what the hell does it matter...They've said they don't draw from specific instances they speak in generals what people go through so that anyone can relate...Numb could be like a father older brother nto neccesarily a chick.

It's all in how you interpret it. The lyrics do not make any direct reference to woman. People interpret lyrics differently, so 'With You' could mean one thing to me and something completely different to someone else.

why sing about women? That's boring. Its what every other male artist does these days & some women. It's rediculous & boy bandish. Their songs can be about whatever you want them to be about. You just have to use your imagination. And honestly, if they came out with a song like "girl, I love you. I can't live without you"... i'd probably line them up & slap them. That's boring & over rated... errrrr
